Traffic Central: Many roads are flooded after last night's storm

Severe weather has caused widespread flooding on roads in Eastern Norway, prompting warnings from traffic authorities.

Severe weather that struck Eastern Norway has led to significant flooding on numerous roads, with traffic authorities reporting many closures. Emil Øien from the Eastern Traffic Central noted that over 60 incidents of flooding have been reported, particularly in Østfold, and advised drivers to exercise caution when navigating affected areas. The rainfall has caused downed trees, complicating efforts to maintain road safety.

In addition to flooded roadways, the weather has also impacted railway services, with Bane Nor announcing the closure of the train line between Sarpsborg and Halden due to unsafe conditions. There is currently no estimate on when the service will resume. The ongoing rains continue to pose safety risks, and traffic authorities are monitoring the situation closely.

Emergency services were called to a situation in Trøgstad, Indre Østfold, where a man was stranded in a submerged vehicle. Rescuers responded quickly, highlighting the dangers posed by the floodwaters. Such incidents underscore the need for heightened awareness of weather-related risks, especially as severe weather patterns become more frequent in the region.
