Domino Association Brings 'Trans Archive' and Argentine Transvestites to Zagreb

The LGBT association Domino is bringing a 'trans archive' and Argentine transvestites to Zagreb, funded by taxpayers.

The LGBT association Domino, established by Gordan Bosanac of the political party Možemo, is set to host a significant event in Zagreb that includes the 'Archivo de la Memoria Trans' from Argentina, which aims to promote visibility and representation of the trans community. This initiative, highlighted through their Facebook communication, emphasizes the need for more trans voices and visibility across the globe. The arrival of Argentine transvestites at the event, 'Queer Zagreb 2026,' has drawn attention and sparked discussions about the funding sources for such events.

Critics like Šarić have questioned the allocation of taxpayer money for what they term as 'queer nonsense,' suggesting a need to reassess priorities regarding public spending. Meanwhile, supporters argue that the trans community plays an essential role in fostering a more inclusive world. The event will feature key figures from the trans archive, including María Belén Correu, an advocate of trans history and activism.

The 'Archivo de la Memoria Trans' claims to be the first trans archive in the world managed autonomously by the community it represents. It preserves and reconstructs the history of trans and travesti individuals through various personal testimonies, documents, and photographs, thereby shedding light on their experiences of persecution, friendship, activism, and resilience throughout history. This unique project aims to amplify the narratives of marginalized communities within the cultural and social fabric of contemporary society.
