The KolekTIRV Association is conducting a campaign on 'trans-specific health care' at our expense
The KolekTIRV Association is raising awareness about trans-specific health care in Croatia, highlighting challenges faced by trans individuals.
The trans association KolekTIRV is conducting a campaign focusing on 'trans health' and 'trans-specific care' with funding from the citizens of Zagreb. This initiative aims to inform the public about the importance of tailored healthcare services for trans individuals, advocating for their rights and access to proper medical care. The campaign has broader implications as it also seeks to address legislative issues related to gender identity in Croatia and press institutions for reforms that better accommodate the trans community.
KolekTIRV, which operated under the name Trans Aid until 2021, was founded by Dalija Pintarić following the transition of Noah Kraljević, a figure known to the public through a controversy involving Zambia. The organization is closely linked to both LGBT rights and feminist movements in Croatia, highlighting the intersecting nature of these social issues. Notably, the campaign features Jasenka Grujić, a gynecologist and advocate for abortion rights, who is a prominent figure within feminist and LGBT circles and has served as a council member for the progressive party, Možemo.
Through their advocacy, KolekTIRV asserts that trans individuals should not be obligated to educate medical professionals about their health needs, emphasizing that healthcare systems should be inclusive and responsive. As awareness grows around the challenges faced by trans persons in accessing adequate healthcare, this campaign could potentially catalyze a larger conversation about the necessity of reforms in medical training and the establishment of policies that uphold the rights of all individuals in Croatia, particularly marginalized communities.
