Meerut: No prayer on the road during Eid, FIR and passport cancellation will follow
In Meerut, the police have strictly prohibited Eid prayers on public roads, imposing severe legal actions against any violators including passport confiscation.
In Meerut, the local police administration has organized a crucial meeting with the Eidgah Committee and Muslim religious leaders to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming Eid and Alvida Jumma. SSP Avinash Pandey strongly emphasized that Eid prayers must not be conducted on public roads under any circumstances. He warned of strict legal actions against mischievous elements attempting to disturb law and order, including confiscation of passports and serious legal proceedings.
To ensure security, the city has deployed the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and paramilitary forces across 544 mosques and 140 Eidgahs. Law enforcement will also utilize drone cameras and emergency vehicles to maintain vigilance throughout the area. The police have made clear that they will take stringent measures against any wrongdoers, ensuring a peaceful environment for the majority of the community that is law-abiding.
SSP Pandey reaffirmed that while 99% of individuals are peaceful, only a small fraction seeks to disrupt the harmony. He delivered a strict warning specifically targeting those who might consider engaging in unlawful actions. The meeting with the city Qazi, as per his statement, was conducted in a conducive atmosphere, and all concerned parties were reminded about previous directives regarding public gatherings and religious practices during Eid.
