This is not the first closure for the Koloman Bridge, as a similar inspection in March of last year temporarily closed the bridge, which is also known as the Isarsteg, for safety evaluations.

The bridge, which is 97 meters long and designed as a cable-stayed structure, has had a troubled history with repairs. Just a year prior to the latest announced closure, the bridge underwent a lengthy closure that was necessitated by frost damage, following comprehensive renovations that were completed in the summer of 2021. These persistent issues highlight the ongoing maintenance challenges faced by infrastructure in the area.
