Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company of Saudi Arabia, has expressed interest in acquiring drones from Ukraine amid heightened military activity in the region. This coincides with recent attacks where Russian forces launched a significant barrage against Ukrainian cities using ballistic missiles and a large number of drones. The situation highlights the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has resulted in increased international interest in Ukrainian military technology, particularly drones, which are becoming increasingly pivotal in modern warfare.

On March 12 and 13, Russian forces executed a coordinated assault involving 126 drones and a ballistic missile against Ukrainian cities, prompting the Ukrainian Air Force to announce that it had successfully shot down 117 of those drones. Among the drones used in the attack, approximately 80 were Iranian-made Shahed drones, demonstrating the international dimension of this conflict, as Iran has been supplying Russia with military technology that significantly enhances its capabilities. The attacks resulted in damage to Ukrainian infrastructure, notably a food storage facility at the port of Odesa, although fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
