Flights Delayed Due to Ramadan; Many Stranded from the Middle East Are Already Home

Most travelers who were stranded in the Middle East have made it back home, though some are still waiting for flights due to delays exacerbated by Ramadan.

A significant number of travelers who were stranded in the Middle East have returned home, as travel agencies have effectively managed crisis situations during the recent evacuation efforts. Larger agencies successfully repatriated most of their clients rather quickly, particularly those who had chartered flights. This efficient management contrasts with smaller travel agencies that operated on commercial flights and may still have clients stuck abroad, but as of now, no major issues have been reported regarding finding alternative arrangements.

The ongoing delays with flights can be partially attributed to the observance of Ramadan, which has affected scheduling and logistics in the region. The Slovak government has recently paused evacuations, stating that only a few individuals have expressed interest in returning home at this stage. Radoslav Košík, Secretary-General of the Slovak Association of Travel Agencies, indicated that most charter flight passengers have already been returned, underscoring the efficiency of large travel companies in navigating this crisis.

As the situation evolves, smaller agencies are working to ensure that any remaining clients still needing assistance can return home as smoothly as possible. Overall, the response from travel agencies appears to have mitigated what could have been a larger crisis, allowing for a swift resolution for many travelers, even while some complications remain due to external factors like Ramadan.
