Chinese Ministry of Commerce Rebuts U.S. Section 301 Investigation as Typical Unilateral Action
China criticized the U.S. Section 301 investigation into its trade practices as a typical act of unilateralism.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has strongly rebuked the United States' Section 301 investigation into its trade practices, describing it as a 'typical unilateral action'. This response comes in light of an announcement by the Trump administration that the investigation was initiated under the pretext of addressing global overproduction in manufacturing. During a press conference, a ministry spokesperson claimed that the investigation severely disrupts international economic and trade order and noted that the World Trade Organization's expert panel has already judged that such tariffs based on Section 301 are a violation of regulations. The spokesperson also urged the U.S. to rectify its misguided actions and return to the appropriate path of dialogue and negotiation.
