Warm weather during the weekend; it will become slightly cooler next week

The weekend will see warm temperatures, peaking at 10-17 degrees Celsius, before a drop in temperature next week with chances of rain and overcast skies in some regions.

This weekend's weather in Latvia will be predominantly warm, especially on Saturday when temperatures are expected to reach between 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, with parts of Kurzeme potentially seeing highs of 17 degrees. Sunday will be slightly cooler, with temperatures dropping by 1-3 degrees. The weather should remain mostly sunny, although an increase in cloud cover and slight rain is anticipated in coastal areas on Sunday, accompanied by the possibility of fog from the sea. Additionally, windy conditions are predicted, with southeast and southern winds reaching gusts of 10-15 meters per second.

A notable feature for this weekend is the likelihood of establishing a new temperature record for March 14th across Latvia, surpassing the previous record of 15.3 degrees set in Mērsrags in 2007. The nights will be relatively cool, with minimum temperatures forecasted between 1 and 6 degrees Celsius. As the weekend concludes, attention will shift to the following week, which is expected to present a change in weather dynamics.

Next week, temperatures are forecasted to drop, with cloudy conditions expected in western and central Latvia on Monday and Tuesday, potentially bringing rain and even wet snow in some areas. In contrast, eastern regions such as Vidzeme and Latgale are likely to remain mostly dry. Daytime temperatures will range from 3 to 8 degrees, while eastern areas could see mild conditions reaching up to 11 degrees. By the latter half of the week, a return to sunnier weather is anticipated, providing a relief from the recent wet and cloudy conditions.
