VIDEO: bus crashes into tree leaving 6 injured in West Zone of SP

Six people were injured after a bus collided with a tree in the West Zone of São Paulo, Brazil.

On the afternoon of Thursday, October 12, a bus in the West Zone of São Paulo crashed into a tree, resulting in injuries to six individuals. The incident occurred around 1 PM on Rua Pio XI in the Alto da Lapa area. According to police reports, the bus driver claimed that a part of a tree fell onto the bus, causing the accident. However, witnesses noted that there was neither rain nor strong winds at the time, suggesting that the bus might have struck the tree directly.

Emergency services, including the firefighters, reported that four of the injured victims sustained minor injuries, while a pregnant woman was urgently taken to the Pronto-Socorro Notre Dame hospital in Osasco for further medical attention. This accident follows another incident on the same day in the West Zone, where a tree fell and injured a 36-year-old woman walking on the sidewalk in the Vila Sônia region. She was reported to be trapped between the branches but was rescued conscious and transported to the UPA Rio Pequeno for medical care.

The series of tree-related accidents raises concerns about public safety in urban areas, especially as fallen trees can pose significant hazards to pedestrians and vehicles. City officials might need to address the maintenance of trees in the vicinity to prevent future incidents, which could escalate the risk of injury to citizens. These events highlight the need for routine inspections and agile response from local authorities regarding urban plant management and emergency protocols.
