Three suspects were arrested on Thursday, December 12, for domestic violence in Pirapozinho and Dracena, São Paulo. Two of the men are under investigation for assaulting their ex-partners, while the third was detained in Dracena for threatening his mother. According to the Civil Police, in one case in Pirapozinho, a 22-year-old man was arrested after the victim went to the police station to report that she had been assaulted by him, even though she had already obtained an emergency protective measure against him. In the second case, a 31-year-old former partner continued to harass his ex-girlfriend with persistent messages after their relationship ended. Despite her seeking a protective measure due to her fears, the harassment persisted, and the man disregarded judicial restrictions in his attempts to rekindle the relationship. In both cases, police located the suspects, who were taken into custody under allegations of domestic violence, reflecting a broader societal issue concerning the enforcement of protective measures and the ongoing risk victims face despite legal protections.
