A man was arrested in Garça, São Paulo, after he forcibly entered his ex-partner's residence and assaulted her. The incident occurred on the night of Monday, September 9, when the suspect, acting erratically and under the influence of alcohol, demanded money from his ex-partner to purchase drugs. The escalation of the situation led to him physically assaulting her with punches, kicks, and hair-pulling.
In an act of self-defense, the woman fought back and stabbed the attacker in the arm with a knife, while their son intervened and also stabbed his father in the arm in an attempt to protect his mother. The altercation prompted a call to the police, resulting in the man’s immediate arrest. Upon apprehension, he was taken to the Central Police Judicial (CPJ) facility in Marília, where he was charged under the Maria da Penha Law, which protects women from domestic violence, as well as for bodily harm, persecution, and public property damage due to his behavior while being transported to the police station.
