Drone images show Tietê River full after rains in the interior of SP
Heavy rains in the Sorocaba region of São Paulo have raised the water level of the Tietê River, but the Civil Defense reports the situation remains under control.
The Sorocaba region in São Paulo has been experiencing heavy rainfall since the previous weekend, resulting in significantly elevated water levels in the Tietê River, particularly in the city of Salto. Drone footage captured on Thursday showcased the river's darker water and flow rates exceeding normal levels. Despite these concerning visuals, the Civil Defense has assured that the situation is currently manageable and has not led to any emergency alerts for the surrounding communities.
From Saturday to the present, Sorocaba and Itu were noted as some of the cities with the highest rainfall totals in the state, measuring 102 and 68 millimeters respectively over the weekend. The persistent downpour has prompted local authorities to closely monitor the Tietê River's status to ensure the safety of residents living along its banks. The proactive approach has contributed to the absence of any severe incidents or emergencies as of now.
The drone imagery serves not only as a striking visual representation of the impact of the rains but also highlights the effectiveness of local emergency management. With the Civil Defense actively overseeing the river's conditions, they are prepared to respond promptly should the situation change. Nonetheless, for the moment, residents can expect continued monitoring without immediate cause for alarm.
