Registrations are open for the 17th edition of the Octavio Frias de Oliveira Prize
Registrations are now open for the 17th edition of the Octavio Frias de Oliveira Prize, aimed at recognizing and promoting cancer research in Brazil.
The 17th edition of the Octavio Frias de Oliveira Prize has opened its registration as of Sunday, October 15, with a goal to recognize and encourage research that advances knowledge, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in Brazil. This initiative, which is in partnership with Folha and Icesp (Institute of Cancer of the State of São Paulo), highlights the importance of innovative cancer research in the country.
Established in 2010 in honor of Octavio Frias de Oliveira, the former publisher of Folha, the prize is awarded in two categories: Cancer Research and Technological Innovation in Oncology. Researchers in oncology can submit their work until May 8, 2025, through the dedicated Prize website. In the Cancer Research category, eligible submissions are original studies published in scientific journals in 2025 and 2026, with the stipulation that the principal author is affiliated with a national research or educational institution.
Moreover, the prize also accommodates the Technological Innovation category, which accepts applications for patents filed in the relevant fields. This initiative not only commemorates the legacy of Octavio Frias de Oliveira but also signifies a collective effort to enhance cancer research, ultimately aiming to improve treatment outcomes and healthcare strategies in Brazil.
