Owners of the Multicommerce in Guayaquil begin to withdraw goods one month after the fire: 'We will continue until all registered can withdraw the most urgent items'
One month after a devastating fire at the Multicommerce building in Guayaquil, owners have started retrieving essential belongings in a coordinated effort with authorities.
A month has passed since the fire that ravaged the Multicommerce building in central Guayaquil on February 11. On March 12, property owners began the crucial task of retrieving prioritized personal items through institutional coordination, reflecting the community's recovery efforts following this significant disaster. Security measures remain in place around the area, with police and authorized personnel controlling access to ensure safety and order during the retrieval process.
According to Γlex Anchundia, the general manager of Segura EP, the process initiated at 6 am saw a gradual entry of registered owners. The items allowed for withdrawal initially focused on those of extreme value, although a compassionate approach has been adopted, allowing for the retrieval of clothing and other necessary belongings as the situation has called for flexibility. This indicates a broader understanding of the loss experienced by the owners, as they strive to reclaim some semblance of normalcy.
The ongoing retrieval efforts not only signify relief for the affected individuals but also highlight the resilience of the local community. With the support of authorities and continued security oversight, there is an emphasis on ensuring that every registered owner has the opportunity to reclaim their essential items, thereby fostering solidarity in the face of adversity and promoting a communal healing process as they navigate the aftermath of the fire.
