Municipal Guards in Itararé, SP rescued ten wild birds that were being kept illegally in captivity, with some species at risk of extinction.

On November 11, the Municipal Guard of Itararé, São Paulo, rescued ten wild birds that were being held illegally in captivity in an urban area. The operation was initiated following an anonymous tip that alerted the authorities to the existence of unlawfully kept wild birds. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found various Brazilian bird species, including curió, azulão, pintassilgo, trinca-ferro, canário-da-terra, and coleirinho, confined in cages.
