Wine season in Serra Catarinense opens with the 12th Altitude Harvest
The Serra Catarinense officially kicked off the grape harvest season in March with the opening of the 12th Altitude Harvest of Santa Catarina, marking a major enotourism festival in Brazil.
The Serra Catarinense region in Brazil has officially entered the grape harvest season with the inauguration of the 12th Altitude Harvest festival this March. This event heralds one of the country's most significant enotourism festivals, showcasing the unique high-altitude wine production of the area. The festival began with a grand opening ceremony attended by Santa Catarina's governor, Jorginho Melo, alongside federal, state, and local authorities, as well as professionals from the wine industry and specialized media.
The first weekend of the festival attracted a considerable turnout and was marked by vibrant festivities and public engagement. This year's event also initiated the Vinho & Arte Festival de Altitude, which brings together over 22 wineries to celebrate the distinct terroir and wine identity of Serra Catarinense. The goal of the festival is not only to promote local wines but also to enhance the cultural appreciation of the regionβs viticulture.
The celebrations will continue from March 12 to 14, during which producers will showcase high-altitude wine labels paired with local cuisine. This activity aims to highlight the quality and diversity of wines produced in high elevations and establish Serra Catarinense as a notable wine tourism destination in Brazil.
