The case was heard at Lewes Crown Court, where it was revealed that Peck had misrepresented himself as an accredited psychotherapist and had falsely led his patient to believe that the sexual acts were part of a legitimate treatment plan known as Bioenergetic Analysis. This technique is meant to relieve emotional and physical pain, which Peck used as a deceitful justification for his actions.
The prosecution highlighted that although the patient consented to these acts, it was based on Peck's manipulation and deceit. He was not affiliated with any recognized psychotherapy organization in the UK, further undermining his legitimacy as a therapist. His abuse of trust and authority was exacerbated by his age and the vulnerable state of the patient, who believed in his false claims of therapeutic benefit. The Crown Court emphasized Peck's actions as
