Military repels ISWAP attack in Yobe, kill 20 insurgents

The Nigerian military successfully repelled an attack by ISWAP fighters in Yobe State, killing over 20 insurgents during the skirmish.

Troops from the Joint Task Force, North-East, under the auspices of Operation HADIN KAI, have effectively countered a significant assault by suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Yobe State. The engagement commenced on the night of March 9 and continued into the early hours of March 10, 2026, with insurgents attempting to encircle military positions at Goniri. In a statement released by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, it was confirmed that the coordinated attacks were successfully neutralized, resulting in the deaths of more than 20 insurgents.
