A young southern elephant seal, approximately two meters long, was unexpectedly spotted resting on the beach at Barra de Santo Antônio, located in the North Coast of Alagoas, Brazil. According to the Instituto Biota de Conservação, the last recorded sighting of this species in Alagoas was in 2024, specifically at Maragogi, which is also along the state's northern coast.
