Court Declares Bankruptcy of Estonia's Largest Cheese Producer 'E-Piim Tootmine'
The court has declared the bankruptcy of E-Piim Tootmine, Estonia's largest cheese producer, amid financial struggles faced by the company.
The court has officially declared the bankruptcy of E-Piim Tootmine, which was previously the largest cheese producer in Estonia. During the bankruptcy proceedings, an assessment of the company's financial situation will take place, and the viability of its assets and business will be examined for the benefit of creditors, aiming to meet their claims from the debtor's assets. The company management had been working under CEO Anti Orava since December to stabilize the company’s financial state and find an out-of-court resolution for the liquidity problems, but negotiations among the owners did not yield a solution.
On February 11 of this year, board member Jānis Bērtulsons filed for bankruptcy, citing a legal obligation to act in the best interests of the company and its owners when it became clear that E-Piim Tootmine could no longer fulfill its financial obligations regularly. The leadership is now cooperating with bankruptcy administrators to maintain operations during the bankruptcy process. The management emphasizes that the factory's functioning, coupled with a motivated team and a continuous milk supply system, provides the best environment to navigate these tough financial waters.
