ANA Unveils New International Seat Without Electric Reclining in Higher Class

All Nippon Airways (ANA) revealed new seating for its medium-haul aircraft designed for long-distance routes, including a private business class without electric reclining features.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) introduced a new seating configuration for their medium-haul aircraft that will be rolled out from summer 2026. This development includes the airline's first private business class seats designed uniquely for medium-sized planes, distinguishing it from the previously exclusive offering on larger aircraft. In addition to the business class, both the premium economy and economy class seats will also see significant upgrades to enhance passenger comfort.

The new business class seat, named 'THE Room FX,' is tailored specifically for the Boeing 787-9 aircraft. ANA collaborated with French seat manufacturer Safran Seats for this innovative design. One of the key features of this seat is its unique design that deviates from the conventional concept of electric reclining; instead, it offers a recline mechanism that doesnโ€™t require electrical components, resulting in a broader seating area and an overall enhanced feeling of spaciousness for passengers.

This initiative by ANA highlights the airline's commitment to improve in-flight comfort and service quality in an increasingly competitive aviation sector. By introducing these advancements and focusing on passenger preferences, ANA aims to stand out in the global market for air travel and meet the evolving expectations of travelers looking for comfort and luxury even on medium-haul flights.
