The Painter Sandra Strēle's Exhibition Merges Times and Spaces, as Well as the Worlds of Water and Earth

Sandra Strēle's upcoming exhibition at 'Māksla XO' gallery showcases a blend of natural themes, including primitive plants and marine life, explored through her unique artistic lens.

Sandra Strēle is set to launch her solo exhibition titled 'Look, a Goldfish in the Waves!' on March 12 at the 'Māksla XO' gallery. This new series incorporates elements like primitive plants, fungi, jellyfish, and other motifs, emphasizing the interaction between time and space, and the interconnectedness of various natural worlds. The title reflects a playful yet profound engagement with the themes of nature and existence.

In a conversation with Strēle amidst the creative ambiance of her studio, she mentioned the challenges of finding time to paint while raising her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Despite the limitations, she adeptly manages to balance her responsibilities, aided by her partner who is on parental leave. The ambient sounds of chirping birds from the nearby Ziedoņdārza park often accompany her creative process, intertwining nature with her artwork in a harmonious manner.

Strēle hinted at continuing her exploration of water as a unifying substance in her paintings, particularly as seen in her current blue and white tonal piece. Her works reflect her personal experiences and artistic evolution, drawing on the serene and chaotic elements of nature. Through her exhibition, she aims to invite viewers into her intricate and multi-layered world that reflects both personal and universal themes.
