Hanyang University Baeknam Library Selected for the 2026 University Library Specialization Support Project
Hanyang University's Baeknam Library has been selected as an operating institution for the 2026 University Library Specialization Support Project aimed at enhancing future education and research innovation.
Hanyang University's Baeknam Library, led by director Shin Yoo-hyung, has been appointed as one of the operating institutions for the '2026 University Library Specialization Support Project' by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS). This initiative is designed to identify specialized programs at universities that aim to support educational and research innovations for the future. Hanyang University plans to use this recognition to enhance its unique reading culture initiatives using its in-house book curation platform βB.ridgeβ.
The core strategy of the Baeknam Library extends beyond serving as merely a space for material access; it seeks to create a βuser-centered libraryβ where users can actively participate as curators. The goal is to strengthen the capabilities of university members and turn the library into a community hub that collaborates with local society. Under the key project 'B.ridge' (short for Book+Bridge), a variety of programs will be introduced, including book exhibitions featuring recommended works by university leaders and outdoor reading events called 'Book Picnic'. Further initiatives will also incorporate AI technology to analyze book information comprehensively.
Director Shin Yoo-hyung stated, "Through diverse and flexible book curation reflecting users' perspectives, we aim to provide enjoyable reading experiences. We will strive to ensure that the university library evolves from merely a hub of knowledge transfer to a true community space that connects the lives and thoughts of its members." This project reflects broader educational trends in South Korea, emphasizing personalized learning and active community engagement through library resources.
