Air traffic disruptions expected in Europe due to pilot strike
A pilot strike will severely impact all outgoing Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo flights from German airports, as well as cause significant disruptions to Brussels Airport and public transportation in Belgium.
Union representatives have indicated that the pilot strike will affect all outgoing flights of "Lufthansa" and "Lufthansa Cargo" from airports in Germany. Following unsuccessful negotiations for a new collective labor agreement, employees of the company's subsidiary "CityLine" will also join the strike. Pilots are demanding increased pension benefits, and the union clarified that the airline has yet to propose a new offer after a strike last month. On Thursday, all outgoing flights from Brussels Airport were canceled, and some incoming flights may also be canceled. Additionally, two flights scheduled from Brussels to Riga and one from Brussels to Tallinn will not take place. At Charleroi Airport, located about 45 kilometers from Brussels, all incoming and outgoing flights were also canceled. Due to the strike, public transport and train services in Belgium will face serious disruptions. This situation highlights ongoing tensions within the aviation sector regarding labor negotiations and the implications for travelers and the broader transportation system in Europe.
