Mälardalstrafik Tightens Ticket Controls - Hires Security Company
Mälardalstrafik has enhanced its ticket control operations by partnering with the security company CSG, aiming to achieve greater compliance among passengers.
Mälardalstrafik has recently increased its efforts to enforce ticket compliance by hiring the security company CSG for a four-year contract. According to Brita Lundkvist, the communications manager at Mälardalstrafik, the budget for this enhanced ticket control initiative is projected to be between 3 and 4 million SEK for the year 2026. This effort is intended to supplement the existing train guards currently responsible for checking passenger tickets, reflecting a growing concern for both compliance and security among riders.
Lundkvist emphasized that the goal is to ensure that 100 percent of the tickets on their trains are valid, underlining that while ticket controls are common in nearly all forms of public transportation, they also play a critical role in enhancing safety for passengers. The introduction of this more streamlined ticket control system aims to bolster the assurance that passengers' tickets are properly validated while increasing the general sense of security on the trains.
While there is a provision for security guards included in the agreement with CSG, Lundkvist clarified that Mälardalstrafik is not currently utilizing this aspect of the contract. The focus remains on ticket inspection rather than the use of additional enforcement personnel on the trains at this time. However, the option exists should future needs arise, indicating a preparedness to adapt their security measures if the situation calls for it.
