False testimony, severe sentences
The case of Fiorella Damiani, a libertarian school counselor accused of false testimony, concludes with a harsh sentence following revelations from videos that undermine her claims of sexual abuse against two musicians.
In February, during a high-profile oral trial involving the accusations against two musicians, Joaquín Álvarez and Fernando Pereyra, the prosecution and the plaintiffs sought a nine-year sentence for Fiorella Damiani, who had been accused of providing false testimony. Damiani had initially alleged that she was a victim of serious sexual abuse by Álvarez and Pereyra, leading to their arrest in 2017. However, her claims came into question after videos retrieved from the accused's cell phones were presented in court. These videos revealed that the encounter had been consensual and that all parties involved were in a lucid state.
