Ricardo Monreal warns that Morena will prepare 'Plan B' to promote Sheinbaum's electoral reform
Ricardo Monreal announced that Morena will develop an alternative plan to push forward President Claudia Sheinbaum's electoral reform after its initial proposal was rejected in the Chamber of Deputies.
In a recent session in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal Γvila, a prominent lawmaker from the Morena party, expressed his party's intention to devise a 'Plan B' for President Claudia Sheinbaum's electoral reform following its rejection. The reform requires a two-thirds majority in Congress, which translates to at least 334 votes, but the proposal only received 259 votes in favor, 234 against, and one abstention. Despite the anticipated opposition to the reform, Monreal indicated that the party would not stop pursuing electoral changes.
