There is still no consensus on electoral reform, Monreal acknowledges; Morena will support Sheinbaum's initiative, warns
Morena's parliamentary leader Ricardo Monreal acknowledged the lack of consensus regarding electoral reform but confirmed that his party would back Claudia Sheinbaum's initiative despite uncertainties in securing the necessary majority for approval.
Ricardo Monreal, the parliamentary leader of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, has indicated that there is currently no consensus with the Green Party (PVEM) and the Labor Party (PT) on the proposed electoral reform. Despite this, he has asserted that the Morena caucus will support the initiative put forth by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which is expected to be presented for voting in the upcoming week. Monreal emphasized that even without guaranteed qualified majority support, the initiative will move forward to be debated in the plenary.
