Campinas Police dismantle scheme for diverting CPFL materials, leading to R$ 155 thousand in losses

The Civil Police in Campinas dismantled a scheme involving the theft of electrical materials from CPFL Energia, resulting in significant financial losses and two arrests.

On Wednesday, the Civil Police of Campinas carried out an operation to dismantle a theft scheme involving electrical materials from the company CPFL Energia. This operation was conducted under the investigation of the 1st Specialized Police Investigation Division (DIG) and revealed that the theft had resulted in financial losses exceeding R$ 155 thousand. The police arrested two individuals in connection with these criminal activities.

The police reported that some of the stolen materials were being used in an illegal electrical installation at a company in the neighboring city of Vinhedo. The person responsible for that installation was arrested for receiving stolen property, and is also facing charges of electricity theft, involvement in organized crime, and possession of counterfeit currency.

In a dramatic moment during the police operation, a man attempted to hide in the attic of one of the locations being investigated, but surrendered as Special Operations Group teams arrived at the scene. After paying bail, this individual was released. The police seized energy meters and various CPFL equipment during these actions, further illustrating the extent of the theft operation's impact.
