A businessman linked to a company in Paulínia has been arrested in Campinas for his involvement in the purchase of stolen fuel from a pipeline that connects Paulínia to Brasília, according to police reports. Civil Police investigator André Baldochi revealed that two companies were identified as involved in this illegal operation, with the businessman from Campinas responsible for buying the pilfered fuel. The arrest follows an extensive investigation revealing the extent of fuel theft within the region.

The fuel theft ring reportedly operated across multiple Brazilian states, including São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Goiás, causing an estimated financial loss exceeding R$ 5 million. The police began their investigation in August 2025 after a theft incident was reported in a pipeline along the Anhanguera Highway, which connects Ribeirão Preto and Cravinhos.
