Jang Dong-Hyuk: 'Stop Discussions on Disciplinary Actions Against Pro-Han Dong-Hoon Befo...

Jang Dong-Hyuk requests that discussions on disciplinary actions within the People Power Party be postponed until after the local elections.

On December 12, Jang Dong-Hyuk, leader of South Korea's People Power Party, announced his request to the Ethics Committee to halt discussions on any ongoing disciplinary cases until local elections conclude. This request comes in response to demands from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who called for commitment to party unity ahead of the elections. However, Jang did not mention any personnel changes, opting instead to focus on the party's collective effort to achieve victory in the upcoming elections.

During a Supreme Council meeting, Jang emphasized the need for unity within the party, stating, 'Now is the time for the People Power Party to unite and strive vigorously for local election victories.' He acknowledged discussions from a prior general meeting that aimed to consolidate the party's strength. The Ethics Committee currently faces pressure to address disciplinary actions against certain lawmakers linked to former leader Han Dong-Hoon's campaign, as well as a pending reconsideration of disciplinary actions against controversial far-right influencer Ko Seong-guk.

Despite mayor Oh's calls for personnel renewal, Jang refrained from implementing changes among party officials and instead requested that all individuals in party positions refrain from commenting on internal issues. He urged party members to direct their efforts towards fighting against the opposition rather than wasting energy on internal disputes, highlighting the importance of focusing on the local elections as a priority for party unity and success.
