Cambodia is planning to eliminate all online scam centres by the end of April, having already shut down 80% of identified locations linked to crimes such as human trafficking.
Cambodian authorities have announced an ambitious plan to eradicate online scam centres within the country by the end of April. Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith, who leads the Commission for Combating Online Scams, reported that as part of this initiative, approximately 80 percent of the 250 targeted locations presumed to be operating these scams have already been closed down. These scams primarily involve foreign nationals orchestrating romance and cryptocurrency schemes that often involve exploitation and, in some cases, human trafficking.
