A man was arrested in Enéas Marques, Brazil, for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's house shortly after their breakup, although no injuries were reported.
A man was arrested in Enéas Marques, located in southwestern Paraná, for allegedly setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's house just ten days after their relationship ended. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, where the wooden house was completely destroyed by the blaze, but fortunately, no one was injured. Police reports indicate that the victim had suspicions regarding her ex, with whom she had a brief two-month relationship, especially after receiving threatening messages just hours before the fire incident.
According to the investigation, the victim received ominous text messages from her former partner, threatening her with death and indicating that he would set her house ablaze. Following the report from the victim, local police commenced a search in the surrounding area and managed to locate the suspect near a lumber yard. The man, upon noticing the approaching police vehicle, attempted to flee on foot down a rural road, but authorities apprehended him before he could escape into a wooded area.
The accused was subsequently taken to the Civil Police of Paraná in Francisco Beltrão, where he is being held. This incident highlights the severe implications of domestic violence and stalking post-breakup, reflecting an urgent need for law enforcement and support systems to address and intervene in cases of potential escalation of such threats against individuals.
