A concert tribute celebrating the life and work of Romanian composer George Enescu will be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, marking the 71st anniversary of his passing.
A heartfelt tribute is being organized to honor the legacy of the Romanian composer George Enescu on the 71st anniversary of his death. The concert, titled 'Enescu 70, accessible to all', is a collaboration between the National Opera of Bucharest, the George Enescu National Museum, and the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Guayaquil. It will take place on Wednesday, March 11, at the Aula Magna of the Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES). This event aims to highlight Enescu's contributions to music while engaging with a local audience in Ecuador.
The concert features three artists from Romania: baritone Ștefan Ignat, tenor Virgil Profeanu, and pianist Luminița Berariu. They will perform not only Enescu's compositions but also works by other Romanian composers, showcasing the rich musical heritage of their homeland. The presence of these artists underlines the significance of Enescu within the musical community and reinforces cultural ties between Ecuador and Romania.
