Big change in the weather – Meteorologist: Power outages possible
Meteorologists predict significant weather changes towards the end of the week in Finland, including strong winds and potential power outages.
Foreca's weather blog reports a substantial change in Finland's weather as the week progresses, with an increased likelihood of rain and strong winds. Meteorologist Sara Salonen warns that by Friday, conditions may escalate to storm levels, particularly in the northern parts of the Bothnian Sea to the Bay of Bothnia, where wind forecasts are still fluctuating.
The strongest winds are expected from Friday morning to afternoon, with gusts being most severe in the southwestern and western inland regions, spanning from Varsinais-Suomi to the western parts of Northern Ostrobothnia. Even in Lapland, there may be gusty winds. Salonen highlights that the closer one gets to the west coast, the greater the risk of storm winds, which could lead to localized damage, especially near the coast.
Foreca warns that these gusty winds may cause short power outages and minor wind damage, emphasizing the potential hazards to both residents and infrastructure. The forecasts serve as a crucial alert for individuals and local services to prepare for the anticipated weather changes as adverse conditions potentially disrupt normal activities in the affected areas.
