Now a Wet Forecast – Warning from the Meteorologist

A wet weather forecast has been issued for Finland, with varying forms of precipitation expected across different regions through the week.

A significant weather alert has been issued in Finland, predicting continued poor weather conditions from Sunday into the following week. According to Juha Jantunen, a meteorologist from the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the weather will shift to a notably variable pattern as March begins, with precipitation expected in various forms including rain, sleet, and snow. This variability reflects a broader division in the weather across the country, with temperatures in the north remaining below freezing and occasional sunshine, while southern and central areas of Finland are predicted to experience overcast skies accompanied by mixed precipitation.

In southern Finland, rainfall will predominantly occur in the form of rain and sleet, whereas in Central Finland, there's potential for the precipitation to switch to snow. The southwestern regions are more likely to receive rain. Areas like Pirkanmaa and more central parts of the country could see snow accumulation of up to ten centimeters, with at least five centimeters expected. The forecast implies that residents across Finland should prepare for a mix of wintery weather as the temperatures exhibit significant daily fluctuations.

The temperature variations highlight the sharp contrasts within the country's climate, especially in its northernmost areas where morning temperatures can plunge 15 degrees below zero (Celsius) before rising above freezing during the day. Similar patterns are noted in the south, where overnight temperatures may also drop below freezing before increasing during daylight hours. This weather forecast emphasizes the continued impact of winter on Finland, suggesting that citizens should remain vigilant and adaptable as conditions change rapidly throughout their regions.
