In February, the price of the basic basket in Manaus dropped to R$ 628.90, according to a survey by the National Supply Company (Conab) and the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese), released on Monday (9). This marks a significant 2.94% reduction from January's cost of R$ 647.97, making it the largest decrease among the analyzed capitals. Over the month, there was a decrease of R$ 19.70, highlighting the fluctuating dynamics of food prices across Brazil.

The report indicates variability in food prices nationwide, with 14 capitals experiencing an increase in food costs while 13 saw a decline from January to February. São Paulo recorded the highest cost of the basic basket at R$ 852.87, followed by Rio de Janeiro at R$ 826.98, and Florianópolis at R$ 797.53. In contrast, the Northern and Northeastern regions reported lower prices, with Aracaju at R$ 562.88 and Porto Velho at R$ 601.69, illustrating the geographic disparities in food pricing across the country.

In Manaus specifically, eight out of the twelve items that make up the basic basket saw price reductions, reflecting positive trends for consumers in the area.
