Kristiāns Marnics, a 45-year-old former elite athlete turned entrepreneur, realized a lifelong dream by undertaking a challenging trek across the sea ice from Roja, Latvia, to Ruhnu Island in Estonia. This journey, which required extensive preparation over the years, attracted the attention of local rescuers who were surprised to see a lone traveler approaching. Upon returning to Latvia, Marnics was met by Latvian police, as is customary for such ventures, to account for his activities during the expedition.

Marnics is not just any adventure seeker; he is well remembered in the sports community for his achievements in both beach and indoor volleyball. However, his passion extends beyond these familiar territories, as he has cultivated interests in kayaking and hiking under extreme conditions, honed since childhood under his father's guidance. His recent expedition to Ruhnu included not only the physical challenge of traversing the icy expanse but also engaging with the local culture by getting acquainted with various attractions and forging relationships with the island’s inhabitants.

The journey covered nearly 90 kilometers and took several days, highlighting not only Marnics' physical endurance and skill but also his dedication to exploring the natural beauty and unique experiences found within the Baltic region.
