In a disturbing incident in Indaial, Santa Catarina, a man has been arrested for stabbing a pastor who was providing counseling to his ex-wife. The attack occurred after the man violated a protective order that had been set against him. According to military police reports, the assailant broke into his ex-partner's home around 3 PM, armed with a knife, and confronted the woman, but was thwarted by the pastor, whom he subsequently attacked.
The ex-wife managed to escape the home with her seven-year-old son immediately following the incident, while the pastor required medical assistance for his injuries. This incident occurred just three weeks after the couple had separated, highlighting the ongoing domestic violence issues many families face. Notably, prior to the assault, it was reported that the attacker attempted to disconnect the home's monitoring system, suggesting premeditation and intent to intimidate his ex-wife.
After the attack, the assailant fled the scene but was apprehended in his vehicle headed toward Ibirama. Law enforcement has since recovered the vehicle, which is now being held at the police impound. This case underscores the critical need for enforcing protective measures for abuse survivors and addressing the severe consequences of domestic violence in Brazil.
