The Jõhvi Football Museum has launched a campaign for the construction of a monument to Tõnu Eapost
The Jõhvi Football Museum is raising funds to create a monument honoring football player and coach Tõnu Eapost.
The Jõhvi Football Museum has initiated a fundraising campaign to establish a monument dedicated to Tõnu Eapost, a notable football player and coach from the area. The campaign calls for support via monetary donations through the Hooandja website, allowing the community to contribute to this tribute. A commemorative plaque honoring Eapost has already been erected at the museum a few years ago, and now the museum aims to take the next step by creating a permanent bronze bust to honor his contributions to the sports culture in the region.
The proposed location for the monument is near the Kohtla-Järve Ice Hall, reflecting Eapost's deep ties to the local sports community. The bronze bust will be crafted by Ukrainian sculptor Eldaniz Gurbanov, and the total cost for its production and transportation is estimated at approximately €15,000. The campaign's primary target is to raise €8,000 to cover initial costs and start the production process, while an additional €7,000 is sought to finalize the remaining costs and enhance the monument's surrounding area.
Tõnu Eapost, who was a significant figure in sports in Kohtla-Järve, passed away in 2014. His legacy in promoting football and local sports has had a lasting influence on the community, making the establishment of this monument an essential step in preserving his memory and recognizing his contributions. By launching this campaign, the Jõhvi Football Museum not only aims to honor Eapost's legacy but also to engage the local community in remembering and valuing their sporting heroes.
