Swiss top club snatches Lions' forward
Swiss club HC Lugano has signed Finnish forward Jere Innala to a two-year contract.
Swiss top-tier club HC Lugano has announced a two-year contract with Finnish winger Jere Innala, which will commence in the 2026-2027 season and extend through to the end of the 2027-2028 season. Innala, 27, is regarded as a fast winger with scoring capabilities, and HC Lugano's CEO Janick Steinmann highlighted that Innala's best years are still ahead of him. Steinmann noted that Innala's experience in top leagues, including Sweden, Finland, and North America, will make him an essential part of the team's future.
This season, HC Lugano finished fifth in the Swiss top league's regular season. Jere Innala has a notable record in the Finnish Liiga, with 290 games played and accumulated statistics of 86 goals and 95 assists, totaling 181 points. He has represented the Finnish national team, the Lions, in World Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2024, indicating his experience in international competitions.
In addition to his success in the Finnish league, Innala has also played 17 NHL games with the Colorado Avalanche, showcasing his capabilities in North American hockey. This move marks an important step in Innala's career, as he transitions to a prominent team in Switzerland, suggesting he is set to make significant contributions in the forthcoming seasons and possibly reaffirming his place in the spotlight of European hockey as he continues to develop his career further.
