524 Gas Cylinders Stolen in Jhansi Recovered by Police, Now Under Guard

The police in Jhansi recovered 524 stolen gas cylinders and arrested seven suspects, including the gas agency owner, following a raid.

In a significant police operation, the Jhansi police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) uncovered a case of theft involving 524 gas cylinders. During a confrontation, they arrested seven individuals, including the owner of the gas agency, and seized more than 1.1 million rupees in cash along with the stolen gas cylinders. The cylinders comprised 379 filled and 135 empty ones, which the thieves had sold to an agency located 70 kilometers away in Samthar.

The crime was orchestrated by two former drivers of the truck owner, Neeraj Agarwal, who sought to recover unpaid wages of 60,000 to 70,000 rupees. This retaliation led them, in collusion with accomplices, to execute the theft between March 2 and 6, stealing the truck loaded with gas cylinders from outside a gas plant before abandoning it on the Jhansi-Kanpur highway. The police are now keeping a close watch on the recovered cylinders to ensure their safety and prevent any further criminal activities.

The incident highlights the desperation that can drive individuals to engage in crime, especially surrounding financial disputes. The prompt action by law enforcement not only facilitated the recovery of stolen property but also showcases the challenges police face in combating thefts tied to personal vendettas. The effective operation underscores the importance of cooperative efforts between different police units in addressing crime in the region.
