1.15 million evacuated, fierce ground battles… Lebanon becomes 'the second battlefield'
Lebanon, a bastion of the Iran-aligned Hezbollah, has become a second front in the U.S.-Israel-Iran war, resulting in heavy civilian casualties and mass evacuations.
In Lebanon, the ongoing conflict involving Hezbollah, a transnational militant group aligned with Iran, has escalated as it serves as a second front in the U.S.-Israel-Iran war. With Israeli forces intensifying attacks to eliminate Hezbollah strongholds, civilian casualties have risen significantly, with close to 500 residents reported dead and around 1.15 million people, or 20% of the population of 5.9 million, fleeing from their homes. Reports from sources like the Times of Israel indicate that the Israeli military conducted large-scale airstrikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, particularly targeting the Hezbollah-designated neighborhood of Dahieh, following warnings for residents to evacuate.
