East Singhbhum: Robbery at National Bank in Broad Daylight, Criminals Flee with 1.3 Million
Masked robbers made off with 1.3 million rupees from a bank in East Singhbhum during lunch hours on Tuesday.
In a brazen daylight robbery in East Singhbhum district, six masked criminals targeted a nationally-operated bank, stealing 1.3 million rupees while employees were on their lunch break. The incident occurred in the Baharagora police station area, showcasing the audacity of the robbers as they executed the crime without fear of being caught.
According to a police official, the robbers entered the bank brandishing weapons and threatened the staff, who were largely unprepared due to the timing of the incident. In addition to the money, they also stole personal belongings such as staff members' gold chains, mobile phones, and wallets, further instilling fear during the ordeal. Interestingly, the criminals dropped one of the stolen mobile phones as they made their escape, which could potentially aid law enforcement in their investigation.
The police in Ghatsila subdivision have launched an intensive search for the robbers. The incident raises concerns over security measures in banks, particularly during lunch hours when staff availability is reduced. This attack is likely to prompt discussions around improving bank security protocols to prevent similar occurrences in the future, highlighting a need for enhanced vigilance among banking institutions in the region.
