Four new contracts signed by ELKAK for the development of drones and UCAVs
ELKAK has signed four new contracts focused on the development of drones and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) in collaboration with the Greek defense ecosystem.
ELKAK (Greek Center for Defense Innovation) has initiated four new contracts aimed at advancing the development of drones and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) as it enters 2026. These contracts include a partnership with the Research and Technology Development Center of the Hellenic Armed Forces (KETAK) for kamikaze drones and collaborations with three private companies in the Greek defense sector to produce domestically constructed Category I UCAVs, intended for immediate operational use by the Armed Forces.
The signing of these contracts follows extensive field trials conducted in collaboration with the Armed Forces during the joint exercise "PARMENION". Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized that the unstable geopolitical environment and ongoing conflicts in the broader region underscore the importance of innovation and technological advancement in defense capabilities.
These developments reflect a strategic response to contemporary security challenges in the region, aiming to enhance the operational effectiveness of Greece's military through homegrown technological innovations. By fostering collaboration with private entities within the defense ecosystem, Greece is positioning itself to respond more dynamically to potential threats while bolstering its defense capabilities through increased self-reliance.
