Customs Authority: 31 kg of cocaine seized from minibus
Norwegian customs authorities seized 31 kg of cocaine from a minibus attempting to enter Norway under false pretenses.
In June 2025, Norwegian customs officials intercepted a Slovenian minibus at the Svinesund border crossing. The vehicle was traveling with two men inside who claimed they were in Norway to pick up boxers returning from a training camp in Oslo. However, their story raised suspicions, prompting customs to deploy a drug detection dog.
The drug dog indicated a presence of narcotics near the driver's door of the minibus. Subsequent scans of the vehicle revealed irregularities in the area where the dog had signaled. Customs officers discovered a hidden compartment in the minibus containing 31 plastic-wrapped packages, leading to immediate testing that confirmed the substance was cocaine. The total weight of the drugs amounted to 31 kg, enough for over 750,000 individual doses.
The two men aboard the minibus were arrested, and customs officials emphasized the importance of imposing lengthy prison sentences for such serious offenses. The seizure highlights ongoing issues of drug trafficking in and through Norway, necessitating vigilant border enforcement by customs authorities.
