Ecuador and the United States seize 1.9 tons of drugs valued at 70 million dollars in the European market
Ecuador and the United States have seized approximately 1.9 tons of drugs in a maritime operation, with a value of 70 million dollars in Europe.
On March 10, Ecuador's Ministry of Defense reported the seizure of around 1.9 tons of drugs during an operation at sea, supported by the U.S. Coast Guard. The operation intercepted 77 bags of the suspected substance, which was likely destined for North America. Two Ecuadorian citizens, identified as VΓctor V. and Jonathan V., were arrested in connection with the cargo.
According to military information, the confiscated drugs are estimated to have a street value of approximately 40 million dollars in the U.S. market and 70 million dollars in Europe. The Ministry of Defense stated that this operation delivers a significant blow to the financial operations of criminal organizations involved in drug trafficking.
This action is part of the "Total Offensive" plan, a strategy aimed at combating illegal mining and corruption alongside drug trafficking in Ecuador. The collaboration between Ecuador and the U.S. in this operation highlights the ongoing efforts to tackle international drug smuggling and its implications for the region's security and economy.
