The collaboration between the Nigerian and South African armies aims to bolster Nigeria's aviation capabilities, which is currently undergoing development. Lt Gen Shaibu noted that the Nigerian Army is keen to leverage the considerable experience and established resources that South Africa offers in military aviation training. This reflects a strategic move by Nigeria to ensure that its armed forces possess the necessary skills and technologies for modern warfare.
