Motorcyclists now have free tolls on BR-101 in Northern Fluminense
Motorcyclists traveling on BR-101 in Northern Fluminense can now pass through tolls without charge, as part of a new agreement with the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).
Motorcyclists using BR-101 in Northern Fluminense have recently begun enjoying free toll passage, a change that took effect on Tuesday, October 10th, under a new agreement established with the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT). This agreement signals a significant shift in how tolls are managed for two-wheeled vehicles, aimed at promoting the usage of motorcycles in the region.
The contract associated with this initiative outlines an investment of over R$ 6 billion for infrastructure improvements along the road until the end of the concession period in 2048. Approximately R$ 2 billion of this investment is earmarked for immediate enhancements such as asphalt recovery, lane expansions, and modernization projects that will improve the overall safety and efficiency of the road.
Additionally, the project features vital interventions specifically designed for the Northern Fluminense region, including the introduction of multi-lane sections on certain stretches to facilitate better vehicle flow, especially for freight transportation. An important aspect of this infrastructure development is the planned construction of the stateβs first rest stop for truck drivers, set to be established at kilometer 133 in Carapebus, which will serve as both a convenience for drivers and a means to enhance road safety.
